"It should be noted that the Donetsk fortress is a multilayered archaeological finding (flint and fragments of stone weapons that are common for the late Bronze Age were found in the lowest layers).
Older layers allow making an impression of an Old Rus settlement that consisted of a “dytynets” (fortified central part) and a “posad” (unfortified neighborhoods where artisans and merchants settled).
Today the monument is an important tourist destination for visitors from Kharkiv and other cities of Ukraine. On the 16th of September there is a celebration in memory of the ancestors, during which competitions and games are held for testing strength, intelligence and agility of the participants.
On the same day, a small fair, where you can buy souvenirs and historical literature, is taking place on the territory of the Donetsk settlement. "
